On April 29, 2011, Queen Anne’s County Animal Control with the assistance of the Humane Society of the United States (“HSUS”), conducted a warrantless seizure of 133 Polish Arabian horses from Canterbury Farm, a 100 acre breeding facility owned and operated by Marsha Parkinson in Centreville. We have received numerous requests regarding photos of the horses the day of the seizure which Ms. Parkinson maintains was illegal. “Most photos on the internet are those of my elderly retired horses that HSUS and Animal Control made me put down before the seizure,” Ms. Parkinson stated. Below are some photos of the horses seized by HSUS and Animal Control on April 29, 2011.
What happened to this lady and her farm is completely unconstitutional and a disgrace. Why isn’t she suing the ‘H’ out of the HSUS and QUEEN ANNE COUNTY. Corruption to the highest level in this case. My heart just aches for her. May God bless her to recover, which may never, ever be possible.
I cannot believe this. The USA is advocating itself to the world as the keeper of a free world and are at war to stamp out Terrorism and they allow this to happen in their own backyard. THIS IS THE HIGHT OF HYPOCRICY.
My heart goes out to Marsha Parkinson.
I hope you can get Ms. Parkinson and Canterbury Farm the monetary restitution they deserve. I would also like to know if any charges for theft, even if only for harnesses, halters etc, have been files?
This is horrendous! We have to stop this theft under color of law. The welfare of the animals is obviously not the concern here for HSUS, it’s the political agenda of eliminating animals from our lives. This nation was founded on freedom. Don’t let them take it away from us!
I don’t see any horses in dire need. This was winter-time and horses will have more of a rough coat. I could barely see ribs on one horse out of all of them. I have seen much skinnier horses and there’s none there that I would consider a “3″ on the scale.
Looking at these pictures makes me wonder. I don’t see any evidence of malnourishment, in fact the picture at the top looks a lot like Goliat (which is the sire of both my geldings) or possibly an offspring. Do we know which horses were returned to her? I’m interested in finding out. I agree with you Mary, my horses look quite raggedy during the winter. Also, from what I can see in the pics, their hooves look like they are in good shape, which is also another sign of neglect, but I don’t see any evidence here.
